Overview
Luma is an AI calorie tracker. It provides nutrition estimates and logging tools and is not medical advice.
Meal Photos and AI Analysis
When you choose or capture a meal photo, Luma sends the image and any notes you provide to Clarved's analysis service to estimate calories and macros. Photos are processed transiently for analysis by Clarved's servers. When you save a meal in the app, Luma may also store a compressed copy of the meal photo locally on your device so your history can show thumbnails and visual meal details. These saved meal photos are not uploaded for feedback and can be cleared from Settings.
Nutrition Logs
Luma stores the meals, calorie and macro estimates, edits, and goal preferences you save in the app so you can review your history and progress. Nutrition estimates are starting points only and should not be treated as medical advice.
Personalization Memories
When you edit a saved estimate, Luma may ask whether to remember the correction. Approved memories are stored locally as structured nutrition facts and can be edited, pinned, deleted, or cleared in Settings. When memory is enabled, Luma sends only the relevant approved memory facts as bounded context for a future analysis. You can exclude an individual scan from memories, or exclude scans from memories by default, so that meal does not use memory hints or create a new memory prompt.
HealthKit
If enabled, Luma writes confirmed nutrition entries to Apple Health. HealthKit access is optional, controlled by Apple's permission prompt, and can be changed in the Settings app. HealthKit data is never used for advertising.
Subscriptions
Luma Pro subscriptions are purchased through Apple's in-app purchase system. We use StoreKit transaction information to confirm access to paid features. Apple handles billing, cancellation, and refunds.
Tracking and Advertising
Luma does not show ads and does not use third-party advertising trackers. Meal photos, nutrition logs, and HealthKit data are not sold.
